Students Killed In Bus Crash

Students Killed In Bus Crash

A bus ride that started out as a fun-filled, exciting trip ended in a tragic, fatal time for mostly teenage victims and their families.

Nine people (seven bus passengers, the truck driver and bus driver) were killed the other day and many injured in a fiery crash involving a FedEx delivery truck and a charter bus carrying Southern California high school students on a visit to a Northern California college.

The bus was one of two that the admissions office at Humboldt State University had chartered to bring prospective students to tour their campus. There were 46 people on board.

It is common for high schools to hire and require charter bus transportation for travel to and from sporting events or in this case, to tour a college campus. Charter bus accidents include, but are not limited to:Bus Accident Attorneys

Reports indicate that the bus and truck were on opposite sides of the freeway when the truck crossed a grass median and slammed into the bus, causing an explosion and fire. There was also a third vehicle involved carrying two people, but neither was injured.

In total, about 37 people suffered injuries including minor to severe burns, broken legs and noses, and head lacerations. They were all taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Both the truck and bus were fully engulfed in flames, sending thick, dark smoke into the air.

The accident is under investigation to determine why it happened. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families at this time.
